Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Yield: 24 Total Time: 30 minutes Active Time: 15 minutes
No raisins pretending to be chocolate to ruin these oatmeal cookies! They have a great chewy texture and the addition of cinnamon gives them a little extra flavour that make them all that much better than a normal chocolate chip cookie.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup - softened butter
  • 1/2 cup - packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup - white sugar
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 tsp - vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup - all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp - baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp - cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • 1 1/2 cups - quick cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup - semisweet chocolate chips

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C)
  2. In a large bowl cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth
  3. Add in the egg and vanilla and beat together until combined
  4. In a separate bowl mix together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt (this ensures the dry ingredients are distributed evenly)
  5. Stir the flour mixture into the the creamed mixture until fully incorporated
  6. Add in the oats and chocolate chips and mix togehter
  7. spoon portions onto parchment lined baking sheets (you should get about 24 cookies from this dough recipe)
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 minutes
  9. Allow the cookies to cool for about 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to your mouth or a cooling rack

Notes

Excess cookie dough can be pre portioned onto wax sheets, put in freezer bags, and frozen until needed
